Patient Safety in Radiology
I'm delighted to be able to share with you an important joint White Paper of the ESR (European Society of Radiology) and the EFRS (European Federation of Radiographer Societies) on Patient Safety in Radiology for your feedback. This paper has been in preparation since ECR 2018, with multiple contributing authors from both societies. As a result of the wide knowledge and experience base of the contributors, and the fact that it represents the views of both radiologists and radiographers, this paper contains an important summary of the combined priorities of our two professions in ensuring the safety of patients under our care. It is not intended to be an exhaustive account of all safety issues; rather, the emphasis has been on summarizing the principal considerations that must be borne in mind, with provision of references for deeper reading, for those who wish to explore these issues further.
The White Paper was approved by the ESR Executive Council and the EFRS Executive Board on November 15th, 2018, and will be jointly published in the near future in Insights into Imaging and Radiography.
I hope you will find it a useful resource for current information on safety issues and look forward to receiving your feedback by December 7 at the latest.
Prof. Adrian Brady
Chairman of the ESR Quality, Safety & Standards Committee
